Welcome to the new online home of Writers & Books!
As we celebrate the 45th anniversary of Writers & Books in 2026, we felt it was the perfect moment to refresh how we present ourselves to the world. Over the past four decades, Writers & Books has grown into a vibrant community of readers, writers, students, educators, artists, and storytellers. With this new website, we wanted to create a digital space that better reflects who we are today and where we hope to go in the future.
Our goal was simple: to build a website that is easier to navigate, more engaging, and more welcoming to everyone who visits. Whether you’re looking for upcoming events and workshops, exploring ways to get involved, learning more about our staff and board, or discovering what makes Writers & Books such a special community, we hope this new site helps you connect with us more easily.
You may also notice that we’ve moved from wab.org to writersandbooks.org. As part of this refresh, we wanted our online presence to more clearly reflect who we are and what we do. While many of us know and love the shorthand “W&B,” using our full name helps new visitors discover us more easily and immediately understand the mission and community behind the organization.
We’re also excited to launch this new blog!
This space will serve as a home for stories, reflections, ideas, and experiences from across the Writers & Books community. Posts may be written by staff members, board members, instructors, participants, volunteers, community partners, and others who are part of the Writers & Books community. Some will offer behind-the-scenes glimpses into our work. Others will celebrate special events and moments, explore the creative process, or engage with timely questions shaping our literary landscape—from the reading crisis in the United States to artificial intelligence, censorship, publishing, and the future of books. The possibilities are as limitless as the stories we tell, and we hope this blog becomes a place where curiosity, creativity, and conversation can thrive.
At its core, Writers & Books is a community built around creativity, connection, and the belief that stories matter. This blog is one more way for us to spark conversations, share ideas, celebrate achievements, and deepen our connection with one another and the wider Rochester community.
We invite you to explore the site and discover all the ways you can engage with Writers & Books. Attend a workshop or event, visit Ampersand Books, become a member, volunteer, support our programs, or simply follow along with the stories and conversations we share here and on social media. Whether you’ve been part of our community for decades or are discovering us for the first time, we’re glad you’re here.
Thank you for being part of the Writers & Books story. As we celebrate our 45th anniversary and look toward the future, we’re excited to continue this journey with you.
Welcome and happy reading.
