Story Lab: Library Program

StoryLab is a free, afterschool creative writing and storytelling program designed to help young people develop voice, confidence, and imagination through reading and writing.

Through engaging prompts, collaborative activities, and guided mentorship from professional writers, participants explore poetry, fiction, personal narrative, and performance in a welcoming, community-centered space.

Writers & Books is proud to partner with the Rochester Public Library System to bring StoryLab to youth at the Phillis Wheatley and Sully Branch Libraries, starting in the fall of 2026.

More details and registration information coming soon.

StoryLab is made possible through the generous support of:

Saturday and School Break Programs

During some seasons, we offer creative writing and other literary-themed workshops for youth on Saturdays, or camps during the February and April break weeks.

There are no upcoming programs at this time. Please check back for updates.

Please note, we will not be offering a spring break camp in 2026.

Saturday Camps

Young Writers Circle | Ages 10-13

Do you have an idea for a juicy plot, an intriguing setting, or a fascinating character? Maybe you already have a story in progress! You’ll learn techniques that published writers use to hook their readers, and have an opportunity to get feedback on your work. We’ll discuss published works that are exciting to you, so we can all learn from them. And we’ll create a community where you can express yourself and gain new skills.
