The Poet Speaks presents an immersive, intergenerational poetry workshop inviting participants of all ages to explore the stories that shape who they are. Whether attending solo, with family, or alongside friends and community, this workshop will provide engaging, thoughtful prompts and ideas to get your pen moving.
Rooted in Nigerian and Igbo oral storytelling traditions, this workshop explores storytelling as a living practice—what we inherit, remember, and create. Through guided prompts and reflection, participants will craft original poems drawn from personal experience, family history, and imagination.
Participants will:
- Learn the foundations of Igbo oral tradition and generational storytelling
- Reflect on stories across past, present, and future
- Write poems centered on voice, identity, and lived experience
- Share in an inclusive, supportive space
Open to all, no prior writing experience needed—just bring your voice and your story.
