Open & Fold: The Art of Bookmaking | Ages:10 – 13

Open & Fold: The Art of Bookmaking | Ages:10 – 13

A book is a container for ideas, stories, and poems. In this playful, hands-on camp, participants will explore different kinds of creative writing through imaginative prompts and collaborative activities, then create a variety of handmade books to hold their words—including accordion books, pop-ups, pamphlet-stitch books, blizzard books, zines, and more. Sometimes the shape of the book will inspire the writing; other times, the writing will guide the design. Campers will alternate between creative writing and bookmaking sessions, with movement breaks built in to keep energy flowing. Each camper will end the week with several handmade books filled with their own original writing.
