A SummerWrite in the Branches Camp
Families facing economic challenges are especially encouraged to register their young readers and writers in tuition-free camps held at five Rochester branch libraries.
Everything seems normal…on first appearance. Your main character seems like just another kid, with the usual hopes and anxieties, off to just another summer day camp, until another kind of world shows through the surface. Find the magic in the Phillis Wheatley Branch Library, and the surrounding garden boxes and playground. Give your character special abilities and/or powers. We will use our own magical, mystical, mythical, and/or sci-fi elements to put our characters into a plot filled with surprises. Spin a thrilling tale from the realistic and fantastical opportunities and challenges our characters face. We will create and share scenes that take place in this magical library. Be prepared for some crafts and games along the way.
