Elaine Smolock

Elaine serves as Director of Writing Services and Training Grant Development and Associate Director of Mentorship Development and Facilitation at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. She earned her PhD in Pharmacology and Physiology from Drexel University and conducted postdoctoral research on cardiovascular disease before transitioning to research education and mentorship. With over 20 years in higher education, she is passionate about writing, storytelling, and communication. Elaine is an active volunteer in Rochester, coaching youth sports, supporting Special Olympics, and partnering with community organizations, including Writers & Books, where she proudly contributes to advancing its programs and outreach.
