Joy and creativity are at the heart of SummerWrite, a successful multi–week program since 1985. Children and teens at every level–from the reluctant reader to the budding novelist–find and share their unique voices, make new friends, grow in self-confidence, and pursue learning as an adventure.
Being involved in the creative process and the literary arts nurtures essential qualities of observation, critical thinking, imagination, and empathy. SummerWrite stretches our young people and asks them to grow in all these areas. We are here to plant seeds for a lifetime of learning.
Writers & Books commits to a philosophy and practice of justice, equity, diversity, accessibility, and inclusion. Please visit wab.org/about-us/ for more information.

High school-age and college-age apprentices assist in all our camps for ages 14 and below.
Camp sizes are kept small, generally with a ceiling of 12, to maximize group interaction and individual attention.
Many camps have creative ways to celebrate participants’ works, including showcase presentations, digital anthologies, or The Academy for Young Magicals daily newspaper. We email families about these opportunities to engage with campers’ achievements.
In the event that a camp is canceled due to low enrollment or other unforeseeable circumstances, registrants will be notified as far in advance as possible, generally 5 or more business days before the start of camp. A full refund will be issued.
If you withdraw at least 30 days before the first day of camp, you will receive a full refund, minus a 25% administrative fee. No refunds will be given for withdrawals with later email dates. To withdraw, email Clara O’Connor.
