Characters with superpowers are cool, but how do we make them feel like real people you actually care about? With guidance from a published YA author (who is also Writers & Books’ executive director!), we will invent heroes and villains and then dig deeper to discover what truly makes them tick. What kind of world do they live in? What do they want more than anything? What scares them…and what gets in their way? Through writing, drawing, brainstorming, and group discussion, campers will develop original characters, design their look and style, and create short stories or comics that bring them to life. By the end of the week, each camper will have created at least two dynamic characters and a short written or illustrated story starring them.
